Saif’s reaction

Letter August 28, 2015
They should be bringing nations together, not causing more divisions

LAHORE: The Indian film Phantom is a counterterrorism drama, which focuses on the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai, as well as on global terrorism. The Lahore High Court has banned its release in Pakistan because the dialogues, allegedly, portray ‘anti-Pakistan’ sentiments.

A few films from our industry were also banned for screening in Indian cinemas. Leading Indian actor Saif Ali Khan’s reaction to the ban has been quite shocking. It is often said that art has no boundaries and that artists are ambassadors of peace. Therefore, they need to act responsibly and play their roles as ambassadors of peace in a sensible manner. They should be bringing nations together, not causing more divisions.
