POLL: Misbahul Haq or Younus Khan, who do you think is better?

The Express Tribune wants to know who will you choose for different roles

Pakistan middle-order batsman Younus Khan has stated that he does not want to be compared with Test captain Misbahul Haq, however, putting aside the wishes of our beloved Pathan for a while; we are giving you the chance to tell us who in your opinion is better.

Statistics

Misbahul Haq: The right-hand batsman averages 48.19 in 58 Tests and 43.40 in 162 ODIs. He has struck eight centuries in Tests while he was never able to enter three figures in ODIs.

Younus Khan: The right-hand veteran has a Test average of 54.07 in 101 Tests while in 264 ODIs he has scored 7240 runs at an average of 31.34.

imdad ali | 8 years ago | Reply Misbh and younas both are best. Misbh who play dot balls and suddenly he play a big short. Younas never get bowler to be settle. Every ball he try to get single so both have their different style to get runs.

Ray | 8 years ago | Reply No question Misbah is the best captain Pakistan has ever had. After him it was Imran Khan. I think in batsman I would rank Younous higher then Javed Miandad and Inzi. In terms of pure ability Saeed anwer and Inzi were best batsmen with natural ability. Misbah 's thinking ability and his command of game is almost as good as Miandad, Younus and Imran. Younus has shown lack of maturity as a player many times by lashing out in the media and refusing captaincy on the hand Misbah is a rock solid leader and delivers with whatever tools he has...w no complains even when players like Afridi and others were ready to dump him

Akhtar Hussain Javed | 8 years ago | Reply Misbah ul Haq! I love everything about Misbah. He took the reins of the team when Pakistan was in very bad situation. Second, he is the prime example of how to lead from the front. His calmness and attitude in the field outclasses even legends like YK.

waqar | 8 years ago | Reply @SyedNaeem: Dear,blocking balls cause fall of wicket,run rate get down that compelle batsman to play shots,sometime play bad shot and throw wicket. I agree that Pak top order is incapable after retirement of Saeed and amir sohail,but till 2009/10 Pak achieve/post big totals due to middle order performance,but during 2011-2015 Pak middle order was also failed mostly, they didn't make runs and if made that were not productive mostly.The problem is that pak failed to develop odi team during this 4 years,which is the responsibility if team managment and captain. No one can take away anything from YK and misbah,they are serving country,deserve respect and we should give.

Ali | 8 years ago | Reply @samir: Younis Khan was doing great job with his captaincy but he had difference of opinion on selection of player with Cricket board,He did not say YES to board on every decision,Our cricket board want a weak decision making captain who will always remain under their hand. Misbah is average player & poor captain but he was good to make cricket board happy saying YES sir for every decision.

SyedNaeem | 8 years ago | Reply @waqar: bro i dont think so he caused the preasure on the other end.... i have played 30-50 over format quite often so i know it has few effect but should not result in losing wickets... usually when misbah comes to play pak is 30-3... not the top order batsman get out because misbah played dot balls???? what do you do when your team is 30-3 in first 10-15 overs... even if misbah play 100 balls to score louse 60-70... while team gets out before 50 overs.... what i am trying to say is.... sure he blocks few ball.. tell me why is the test side successfull than our ODI under misbah. the way i see it... test side players can absorbe the preasure while is ODI's name me one player who was capable of absorving preasure other than the skipper.... his top 5 ODI scores are at a very decent strikerate.. actually more than decent... how many 50's he has scored in winning cause .. and how many in losing cause>.... 25 out of 42 have come is winning cause... thats not a record what i call a preasure building... because in most of them he didn't bat till the end...

waqar | 8 years ago | Reply Dear @SyedNaeem: Misbah's odi avg is better than YK,but is not misbah's blocking balls and creating pressure on the batsman at other end,and resulting fall of wicket.what we have to do with high average if it is not turning the rezult into Pak favour.YK played mostly at no.3 with poor opners in Pak history And stabalize Pak batting line,he never block balls like misbah did,misbah has very poor strike rotating capability.Steve Waugh and mahella odi average is approx 33,is misbah better than both?Fawad Alam once averaging 45+ in odi at some point of his career,is Fawad better than misbah? Misbah deserve credit for test Captaibcy,but his odi era was worst ever in Pak history,just look at win/los ratio of Pak versus top 8 teams during musbah's era that is word ever in Pak odi history.

One should also look at the nature of runs,are these runs winning match for team? Or just boosting individual averages?? One should give respect to misbah for test captaincy but then also look at his odi era which is worst in Pak history,just look at Pak win/Los ratio versus top 8 teams during misbah's captaincy,that is worst ever in Pak history because he failed to develop odi team during his 4 years.

areeb ahmed | 8 years ago | Reply The analysis is a bit unfair i guess! But anyways Misbah is more consistent than YK.His oneday and test average speaks it all.Moreover the thing is the IMPACT that Misbah creats on opponent side.Further his capability of sloging the ball is ahead of YK.

waqar | 8 years ago | Reply No argument needed,if someone understand cricket then YK is much better than misbah in all aspects,it is fact that misbah is most successful test captain of Pak but it is due to individual performances by YK, ajmal and few other.and remember in misbah's captaincy pak never visit AUS and Eng,visit only to SA and loss test series by 3-0. if misbah is such intelligent captain then why he failed in ODI badly?? Pak even loss to Zimbabwy in test when YK did not perform, and in the first test Pak was also in problem but YK change the game with his double 100,otherwise we would have been wighte washed by Zimbabwy in test series.

Syed Naeem | 8 years ago | Reply Its an unfair analysis. One player has has played over 100 tests and over 250 odi's And other has played around 50 tests and around 150 odi's. My thoughts on this matter is if you want big hits then you want misbah if you want to tease the bowler then you need younus... Both have great temperament in short both players are good If both players have played equal number of matches then it is good analysis.

Rao Saad Salman | 8 years ago | Reply Younis Khan....The problem with Misbah is that he starts of so slow usually that it brings up pressure upon the batsmen to come after him, to score with a high strike rate...Also Younis has far more runs and centuries than Misbah plus Younis's average in test cricket is far more than Misbah's
