Approached by Taxi Fabric, an initiative to breathe life into interiors of Mumbai's taxis with artworks from young Indian artists, Samya, a Pakistani graphic designer was asked to design the ninth taxi in their series of design.
"Happy Independence day to us and our life-long neighbour and partner, India. Its about time we come together and strengthen our love, we are the same," stated her Facebook post regarding her work.
She titled her art Monad, which means a single unit or entity, aptly titled for such a project.
Visually stunning, vibrant and fun, the designer's work predominantly features two women facing each other, braids tied together and one eye between them, showing unity and embodiment of a single spirit.
"I was approached by Taxi Fabric to do a design for the upcoming independence days of both India and Pakistan. I based my designs on the idea that Indians and Pakistanis are essentially the same people, coming from similar roots and focusing on our commonalities and unique characteristics," she wrote.
Her approach towards the project is an eye-opener, while both governments are struggling hard to make relations work, simple acts like these cause a ripple of change and lessen the gap created years ago.
Fans applauded the effort and took to Twitter commending the art works showcased so far:
