Apologising to Dhaka

Letter December 23, 2010
I wonder how history would have been altered had Sheikh Mujibur Rehman been handed over the reins of the government.

AUSTIN, TEXAS: This is in response to Basil Nabi Malik’s article, “An open letter to Dhaka” (December 21). My sincere gratitude goes to the author and all Pakistanis who think like him. I wonder how history would have been altered had Sheikh Mujibur Rehman been handed over the reins of the government, as the election results mandated. Perhaps the 3 million Bengalis (as estimated by the UN) would not have perished in warfare, Bengali women would not have been violated and Bengali villages would not have been charred to ashes. I wholeheartedly agree that those who committed these crimes against civilians, against humanity, should be brought to justice whether they are in Bangladesh or in Pakistan.
