Bin the bags: CM orders ban on plastic bags

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has ordered a ban on the manufacturing and use of polythene bags across the province. This was stated in a handout issued by the CM Secretariat, Peshawar on Monday. “The ban will be implemented after two months,” read the statement. “During this period, all stocks of plastic bags will be removed from markets and factories.”Those who continue to use them will be penalised. The CM has also directed the relevant authorities to make Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar operational in PK-3 to resolve the water crisis and improve sanitation facilities.
