Neglected Nathiagali

Letter July 28, 2015
The K-P govt needs to inject some life into Nathiagali by developing a marketplace where tourists can buy commodities

PESHAWAR: Nathiagali is one of the few hill stations developed by the British colonial rulers. No substantial development has been done by the government of Pakistan in a majority of hill stations, except perhaps for Murree. Now, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government is interested in developing the Galiyat region for tourism.

My suggestion would be to develop a good bazar because most tourists are fond of shopping. The K-P government needs to inject some life into Nathiagali by developing a marketplace where tourists can buy commodities at cheap rates. There is also a need to look into the kind of medical facilities available in Nathiagali, with there being no medicine shop in Nathiagali bazaar. People have to visit Kalabagh and Mochitara to purchase medicines, and shops are closed at night. There is a small government hospital at Kalabagh that lacks modern facilities. In the case of an emergency, locals and tourists have to rush to Abbottabad. The provision of medical facilities will attract more tourists to Galiyat.
