Up in flames : 16 injured in gas explosion at hotel in Mingora

MINGORA:


At least 16 people were injured in a gas leak explosion at a hotel in Sohrab Khan Chowk in Mingora, Swat on Saturday night.


A police official told  The Express Tribune a fire erupted on the premises after the explosion while a large number of people were stuck inside the building.


“Firefighters arrived on the scene nearly half an hour after the incident.


As a result, residents of the area helped extinguish the flames and assisted police in rescuing those who were stuck inside.”


Speaking to journalists, Mingora DSP Siddique Akbar Khan said 16 people were wounded in the incident and were rushed to a hospital.


“The injured belong to Shahpur area of Shangla district and were staying at the hotel,” Khan said.


“At least five rooms of the hotel were completely destroyed while others were partially damaged.”
