Water woes, still

Letter July 26, 2015
We are compelled to pay Rs2,000 for one water tanker twice a month or roam door to door begging for a bucket of water

KARACHI: I would like to draw the attention of water board authorities to the problem of water supply in Karachi. In the scorching summer heat, water supply had been reduced all through the month of Ramazan, and during Eid, the situation became even more serious.

Despite paying monthly bills and timely taxes, citizens are not being provided the basic amenity while the municipal corporation has turned a blind eye to our problem despite receiving several complaints. We are compelled to pay Rs2,000 for one water tanker twice a month or roam from door to door begging for a bucket of water. The water board authorities blame K-Electric and claim that frequent power breakdowns are the cause of the shortage of water. I earnestly request the higher authorities to look into the matter. We need a long-term solution, moving beyond the response of water board authorities that electricity problems are to blame.
