Increase in migration

Letter July 25, 2015
Migration has brought a great deal of problems to Europe, especially Greece, which is one of the main point of arrival

TURBAT: People from all over the Muslim world are leaving their countries and migrating to European countries because of civil wars and terrorist attacks in their homelands. Citizens of Iraq, Syria, Libya, Nigera and Yemen are the main victims of terrorism perpetrated in the name of religion, which is the main reason why people are migrating towards the continent of peace, Europe.

In the first half of this year, according to one estimate, 135,000 migrants reached Europe and it should be remembered that this is an 80 per cent increase in the number of migrants to the continent in 2014 for the same period. Migration has brought a great deal of problems to European countries, especially Greece, which is one of the main points of arrival. If the influx continues at the same rate, then the efforts at controlling population that European countries have been employing for a century will all go in vain and the Western world will face a bundle of problems. The solution here is to ensure the establishment of proper governance structures and setting up of effective anti-terror apparatus in the Muslim world so that the problems in these countries can near some sort of resolution. Only if staying on in their own countries becomes a desirable alternative for people will we see migration to Europe and other Western countries, and the problems associated with this phenomenon, receding.
