PESHAWAR: The Federation of All Public Sector Universities Administrative Officers Association (FAPUAOA) welcomed the New University Model Act 2015. Its members asked for its immediate implementation at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday.

“This is one of the most comprehensive laws ever made by the K-P government; it will ensure the proper administration of all universities,” said Muhammad Ilyas Khan, president of the association. “This act established that in addition to teachers, administrative officials are also key stakeholders of the education system, safeguards their rights,” said Khan.

Khan said the government has included administrative staff of institutions in the senate and syndicate. “This would help ensure a balance, as at present, teachers are interrupting in administrative matters.”

Members of administrative staff of the institutions present at the press club said they supported the government in steps taken to improve the education system of the province.

“We appeal to the government to implement the act as soon as possible as it is in the best interest of all stakeholders,” said Khan, “As there are people opposing the act without any reason.”

The new act, welcomed by the administrative staff, is strongly opposed by the teachers association.
