LAHORE: Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday sought details of government action, if any, against the administration of private schools demanding charges other than tuition fees for summer vacations.

The judge also ordered that draft of law governing private schools be produced until June 9. He summoned a representative of the private schools’ association at the next hearing. Justice Qureshi said he would also summon schools and high education secretaries if the draft was not produced.

Advocate Sheeba Qaisar had moved a petition submitting that the provincial government had issued a notification stopping private schools from collecting summer vacation fees from parents in advance. She said that schools were forcing parents to pay the entire fee.

Earlier, an official from the Education Department had informed the court that the department had not received any complaint from parents in this regard.
