Controlling Naegleria

Letter June 02, 2015
One cannot see a lot of evidence of efforts being made to chlorinate all water sources in the city by the KWSB

KARACHI: The death toll from Naegleria has climbed in Karachi. Chlorination is considered to be the main way through which the spread of this disease can be controlled. However, one cannot see a lot of evidence of efforts being made to chlorinate all water sources in the city by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and its partners.

Maintaining required chlorination levels in water supplied to the city is the KWSB’s responsibility. Otherwise, this dangerous amoeba will continue increasing the death toll by the day.
