SC rejects PCO judges objections

Apex court says same bench will continue to hear the case.

Express December 13, 2010

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday rejected objections raised by PCO judges against the bench hearing the contempt of court cases against them.

The apex court had formed a bench to hear the case against the PCO judges. Defence Lawyer Abdul Basit had raised objections against the judges on the bench. A petition was also filed in the Supreme Court to form a fresh bench for the case.

The apex court on Monday rejected the objections and said that the same bench will continue to hear the case.

Basit argued that only judges are being targeted.

In response, Justice Jawad S Khawaja asserted that army officials involved in the PCO issue will also be summoned. The hearing of the case has now been adjourned till Tuesday.
