Importance of tolerance

Letter May 30, 2015
If the rest of us keep message of patience alive and remain peaceful, we can save our future generations form violence

ASHBURN, VA, USA: The fifth anniversary of the horrific attacks on two Ahmadi places of worship in Lahore passed by quietly on May 28. More than 80 lives were lost that day, but there was not a single act of retaliation from Ahmadis in Pakistan. In a country where acts of violence are a daily norm and intolerance rampant, such resolve and patience from a victimised community is noteworthy. The Ahmadis of Pakistan have long been victims of persecution, both violent and otherwise. Their homes have been burned, their properties have been looted but they have remained peaceful. I think the majority community of Pakistan can learn a big lesson from this small community in this regard.

Those 80 souls are gone and they will never come back to this world again but if the rest of us keep the message of patience alive and remain peaceful, we can save our future generations from violence, bloodshed and intolerance.
