Girl scouts: Week-long training for senior guide leaders to end today

PGGA organised one week of training for Senior Guide Leaders of AJK.

Pakistan Girl Guides Association (PGGA) organised one week of training for Senior Guide Leaders of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from December 6 to 12 at their national headquarters in Islamabad. The training was organised on request of the AJK branch of Pakistan Girl Guides Association. Participants are lecturers at different colleges in AJK.

The training consisted of fundamentals of guiding, promise, law and motto of Senior Guides, organisational structure of Pakistan Girl Guides Association, history of guiding, introduction to World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, introduction of Senior Guide programme and formation and management of a guide company, ceremonies and national and international days, hiking, campfire, nature observation and a short IT course.

During training senior guide leaders were taken to Lake View Park for outdoor activities on Thursday and they participated in a day camp to learn camping techniques and gadget making on Friday.  On Saturday the leaders were enrolled into PGGA by Farhana Azim, National Commissioner Pakistan Girl Guides Association. Azim also distributed certificates among the participants.
