How police suffered in war against terror

Documentary highlights sacrifice of law-enforcement agencies.

ISLAMABAD: A documentary film highlighting sacrifices of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies in the war against terror was screened at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) on Friday. The special documentary was produced and telecasted by Channel 4 of United Kingdom with an objective to highlight the losses faced by the country.

The premier of this documentary was attended by a large number of people, including representatives from foreign embassies and missions, artists, students, police and other law enforcement agencies officials.

UK’s Channel 4 had worked on the documentary with the permission of the Interior Ministry of Pakistan. It showed the people who had suffered injuries in different terrorist activities and their resolve for resuming life was appreciated.

Speaking at the occasion, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam said that producers of this documentary tried to present a real situation after reviewing the sacrifices in the war against terrorism. “It depicted our commitment to root out the menace of terrorism and also presented our sufferings in this struggle,” said the IGP.

This depiction, the IGP explained, was based on reality and revealed that Pakistan had become victim of terrorism after becoming ally and frontline state in this war.

Later, the IGP, while responding to questions about terrorist elements in the capital, said “We have intelligence and source-based information from nabbed terrorists. We are hunting their other accomplices.”

About the Muharram security, the IGP said that 7,500 policemen were engaged in security duties during the month, along with 1600 personnel of Frontier Constabulary (FC), 1800 Rangers and three Companies of army.
