Wave of terror

There are a number of scheming elements involved in terrorism and they have their connections with terrorist groups

KARACHI: Peace and stability are essential for the advancement of civilisation but terrorism and extremism have fostered violence in our country. The enemies of Pakistan have caused great loss of life and extensive material damage to the country. There are a number of scheming elements which are involved in terrorism and they have their connections with terrorist groups. These devilish, destructive forces are always in action. Their fundamental motive is to create political instability in the country.

Political disturbance and economic crisis weaken a nation. This result in a decline in prosperity and national cohesion. The other factors which promote terrorism are unemployment, injustice and religious intolerance.

The foundations of democracy in Pakistan are weak and the political atmosphere of the country and of the region at large remains disturbed for a long time.

This has led to the failure of the authorities to effectively deal with terrorism and extremism. What we need is to strengthen democracy, our institutions and organs of the state if we want to deal with terrorism effectively.
