Poor teaching in colleges

This may be hard to believe but my mathematics teacher used to dictate sums to us and we solve math sums orally

KARACHI: After completing their matriculation, most students seek admission to local government colleges. There is often no way to make distinctions among colleges as all seem to be focusing on the same, old methods of teaching already prevalent in our education system. This may be hard to believe but my mathematics teacher used to dictate sums to us and we used to solve mathematical sums orally without working out the sums in our notebooks.

If this is the teaching standard in our government colleges, how can students gain knowledge and progress when faced with these outdated teaching methods? Education authorities must strive to improve the standard of teaching in government institutions.
