LAHORE: Music virtuoso Abrarul Haq is set to make his debut as playback singer in India with the Indian Punjabi film Ishq Mera Religion. Known for catchy songs, such as ‘Preeto’, ‘Nach Majajan’ and ‘Billo’, Abrar will lend his vocals for two tracks in the movie, reported Roznama Express.

Pakistani lyricist S M Sadiq, who approached Abrar for the project, said, “The reason why we have gotten Abrar on board as playback singer is because he has the best folk voice in the country, which is popular among listeners of all ages. The two songs that he has recorded are sure to be quite popular among the audiences.”

He added that Abrar is not the only Pakistani musician, who will feature on the soundtrack, as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has also recorded two songs for the film. Although this will be the first time Abrar will do playback singing in India, he sang the song ‘Pani Da Bulbula’ for the Pakistani film Zinda Bhaag.

The lyricist is no stranger to working with Pakistani musicians for Indian films, as he has formerly recorded songs with Arif Lohar and Shaukat Ali. He also penned the lyrics for five songs in the Indian Punjabi film Jatt James Bond, including ‘Kale Kale Rahan Raat Nu’ and ‘Jis Tan Nu Lagdi Aye’.
