Nightmare in Nepal

Letter April 27, 2015
It is our duty to help the Nepalese people in every possible way that we can

KARACHI: A powerful earthquake struck Nepal on April 25, which resulted in the deaths of more than 2,500 people. Its magnitude was recorded at 7.8 on the Richter scale and was so strong that a large number of houses, buildings and temples were flattened and streets were totally covered in debris. One of the most ancient towers in Nepal, the Dharahara Tower, which was built in 1832, is now completely demolished.

The country is also experiencing a number of aftershocks which had further worsened the situation. Nepalese are in urgent need for food, clothing and medicines. Pakistan has taken an active step by sending relief goods for the earthquake victims. Pakistani aircraft carrying a medical team of doctors, tents, water and dry food have reached Kathmandu. It is our duty to help the Nepalese people in every possible way that we can.
