Probe ordered: Three arrested for mechanic’s murder

Police claimed on Saturday to have arrested a murder suspect.


Talking to The Express Tribune, Iqbal Town SP Zulfiqar Ahmad said some men riding a motorbike had shot dead generator mechanic Irfan Dastagir on Abid Sher Ali Road on April 13. He said his helper was also injured.


The SP said Factory Area police had registered a case on the complaint of Muhammad Mansha Mughal, a resident of Chak 253-RB Mazhabi Wala.


He said CPO Sohail Tajik had also taken notice of the incident and constituted a team to investigate.


The SP said police had obtained Dastagir’s mobile phone data and traced out suspects Imran Ali, Ghulam Muhammad and Muhammad Zafar. He said Ali had confessed to the killing and told police he was in love with Dastagir’s sister. He said Dastagir was opposed to their marriage.
