Threat to private hostels

Letter April 15, 2015
We request Punjab chief minister and interior minister to put forward a mechanism for private hostels' security

ISLAMABAD: Where private hostels provide facilities to students in Islamabad, they are a serious security threats that students face while living in a hostel; not only students but also numerous employees and daily wage workers stay at private hostels. Unfortunately, there is no mechanism of checks and balances for the people living in hostels.

After the Peshawar APS massacre, not just educational institutions but hostels, too, are facing a security threat. There is a need for the government to focus on residential facilities where countless unarmed students are living completely oblivious to the threats they face from terrorists.

We request the chief minister of Punjab and the interior minister to include all private hostels in government records and put forward a mechanism for the security of private hostels. If this matter will be ignored, another tragedy might be in store for us.
