Retracting: IHC turns death sentence to life term

Bench converted capital punishment into life imprisonment and reduced life term to 14 years in jail.

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has converted a capital punishment into life term and life term into 14-year imprisonment of two convicts respectively in a murder case on Wednesday. The bench comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, after hearing arguments in an appeal plea, converted capital punishment into life imprisonment and reduced life term to 14 years in jail. The appellants, Waheed and Muhammad Nadeem, had filed an appeal with the court against the verdict of a sessions court order, which had awarded them sentences for killing a man, Malik Tanvir, in 2007 within the limits of Shahzad Town police station.
