Punjab agriculture department: Farmers advised on fertiliser quantities

Official observed that cotton crop was playing a major contribution towards economic uplift of farmers.

MULTAN: The Punjab Agriculture Department advised farmers to focus on proportionate use of fertilisers as it serves to enhance cotton yield and also reduces cost of production of the crop. Assistant director of the Agriculture Information, Naveed Asmat Kohloon, talking to a delegation of farmers, stated that the country was ranked fourth in terms of major cotton-producing countries. He observed that Punjab used to produce 80% cotton of the whole country. He said farmers are faced with numerous problems including the leaf curl virus, adding that scientists played a vital role in countering the disease. Naveed observed that cotton crop was playing a major contribution towards economic uplift of farmers.
