Sri Lankan cricket team to tour Pakistan soon

Maximum security will be provided to Sri Lankan team, says President Mamnoon Hussain

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday assured that Sri Lankan cricket team will tour Pakistan soon.

Sirisena, who is on his first state visit to Pakistan, announced this during a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart President Mamnoon Hussain.

Condemning the tragic attack on Sri Lankan Cricket Team in Lahore in 2009, President Mamnoon Hussain expressed hope that Sri Lankan cricket team will tour Pakistan. He assured the President Sirisena that maximum security will be provided to the visiting team.

No test side has toured Pakistan since March, 2009 when militants attacked the Sri Lankan team in Lahore, killing six Pakistani policemen and injuring some of the visiting players.

Last month, cricket boards of Ireland and Zimbabwe had expressed their willingness to tour Pakistan. While non-test-playing Kenya played five one-day internationals in Lahore last year in December.

Rici | 9 years ago | Reply Feel really sorry for Sri Lankan cricketers. They are treating like clowns. Is “Sirisena” going to travel with the players in the team bus? If something happens who is going to take the responsibility? Give up cricket and save your life guys.
