Yemen versus Operation Zarb-e-Azb

Letter April 04, 2015
Saudi Arabia is insisting that we relocate forces 2,500 kilometers away to protect them

ISLAMABAD: Yemen is in the midst of a civil war. No Yemeni citizen has attacked or violated the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia. Yet we see the US and other countries support Saudi Arabia in conducting air strikes in Yemen. On top of this, Saudi Arabia has requested from Pakistan ‘boots on the ground’, as well as air and naval support. It is asking for military support from a war-torn, poverty-stricken country by insisting that we relocate forces 2,500 kilometers away to protect Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan has been engaged in the war on terror for over a decade now and continues to fight terrorists within its own territorial boundaries through Operation Zarb-e-Azb. Question: how many ‘boots on the ground’ and other military support has Pakistan asked of Saudi Arabia during Operation Zarb-e-Azb in our war against terrorists?
