QUETTA:

Five policemen were arrested in Turbat on Monday for their suspected involvement in the murder of two suspects in police custody six days ago.

On March 10, two men – Nasir Baloch from Panjgur and Saddam Sudeer Baloch from Turbat – had died under mysterious circumstances after being locked by police inside a guard room instead of being taken to a police station. A committee headed by Turbat DIG Jaha Ansari was later formed to investigate the killings.

Police arrested the additional SHO of the Turbat City police station after the committee tasked to investigate the killings suspected his involvement, an official said requesting anonymity. ‘Additional SHO Noor Baksh and four constables have been arrested after the investigation.”

IG Balochistan had also taken notice of the custodial deaths and ordered an inquiry after the mother of one of the victims registered a murder case against the DPO, Imran Qureshi. The Turbat DPO was, however, declared innocent in the case after he recorded his statement.
