ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to your editorial of March 5 titled “Netanyahu’s hypocrisy”. It should be borne in mind that Iran signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which guarantees all signatories the right to a nuclear industry for energy, medical use and research. Israel, on the other hand, has not signed the treaty. As such, it has no legal leg to stand on in demanding anything of Iran.
The only solution to this problem is regional nuclear disarmament, which means that Israel should give up its nukes. Of course, it would never do such a thing. Which is why it will always feel insecure about other regional powers pursuing the same deterrent.
