Kidnapping for ransom: Three men given life imprisonment

As many as 445 madrassas from the nine districts of Hyderabad are registered with the Auqaf department, up from 370 madrassas two weeks ago. Masroor Ali, Ammar and Arsalan were found guilty of kidnapping Shoaib Adil, 18, for ransom and killing him despite being paid the money. According to the prosecution, they abducted Adil on May 7, 2009, while he was on his way to a tuition centre in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. They were arrested by the police during a raid in Hangora Goth and confessed to killing Adil. The body was recovered from a dumping yard near Malir Nadi. The ATC-V judge, Javed Alam, sent the three men to jail on two counts of life imprisonment, collectively 56 years in prison. The convicts were also ordered to pay a fine of Rs100,000.
