Hockey cup: NBP thrash Karachi 12-2

KARACHI: Mubashir Ali’s hat-trick guided NBP to a huge 12-2 victory over Karachi on the second day of the 5th Customs Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup Hockey Tournament, while Pakistan Railways defeated PAF at the Customs Preventive Service Club and Sports Complex on Sunday.

Ali scored three goals from penalty corners, along with Atiq Arshad, Arsalan Qadir and Touseeq Arshad scoring twice each, while Amir Ali, Dilbar Hussain and Ali Hassan also got on the score sheet with one each  to their name. Hassan Ali and Fareed Mansoor were the two players to score for Karachi.


In another match, Owais scored four goals to guide Railways to a 6-1 victory over PAF. Muhammed Rizwan and Shah Nawaz scored the other two goals for Railway, while Saeed Shah was the only scorer for PAF.


In the last match, a strong PIA team faced tough resistance from an unfancied Pakistan Steel side as the match ended 2-2 after a highly competitive encounter.
