Choosing a political party

Letter November 29, 2010
If I had to join a political party, I would prefer PPP over PML-N, that is if these were the only two choices.

HYDERABAD: I write with reference to Ayesha Tammy Haq’s article of November 26 titled “Politics anyone?”

If I had to join a political party, I would prefer the PPP over the PML-N, that is if these were the only two choices. The PPP at least has liberal ideals, some ideological principles and a history to it. And its message, while constantly feeding off of its leaders’ blood, remains alive. Of course, the implementation of that message is a different story.

I think most Pakistanis, unlike what several columnists on the pages of this newspaper would have us believe, are by nature good people. There is too much self-deprecation going on in these pages and at some point the fault-finding needs to stop and give way to solutions. For instance, the good thing about Pakistanis is that most of us are very political by nature, and that we all love to have an opinion and like to express it.
