KARACHI: A recent news story revealing that aid and funding has been coming from the US to the so-called Islamic State (IS) is shocking. The US has so far been considered a staunch fighter in the war against terrorism. It now seems that it may be helping in the creation of extremist groups.
Recent developments have raised many questions regarding American integrity towards the causes of the Muslim world. It now almost seems that in order to maintain its supremacy and control, particularly in the Middle East, the US gave birth to the IS. In the wake of such suspicions, the American government should take initiatives to clarify its position and role.
