Textile city

The government needs to have a conscience in this regard and do something about making the textile city functional

KARACHI: The Pakistan Textile City was established in Karachi by the government of Pakistan to develop a world class industrial zone to promote the textile industry. The project’s aim was to create 80,000 employment opportunities. However, it is still not operational due to technical reasons and lack of approvals.

Its management is now planning to stall the project and rehabilitate the employees who have been associated with the Pakistan Textile City since the beginning. All these employees are hardworking and committed to their work and are putting all the efforts that they possibly can to make the project operational, but are hindered by policy issues. There is no one who can raise the voice in favour of these poor souls. The government needs to have a conscience in this regard and do something about making the textile city functional.
