ABBOTABAD:

The PTI-led government is committed to addressing the problems of citizens and it believes MPAs should focus their energies on devising welfare legislations instead of getting caught up in development projects, said Minister for Information Mushtaq Ghani.

Addressing journalists on his visit to Abbottabad Press Club on Saturday, Ghani said the government has proved its commitment to the welfare of citizens by introducing legislation on key issues like accountability, right to information and other such matters.

According to Ghani, the pace of development work in the province is slow because consultants are being hired by the government. “With the completion of this process, a new era of development would be ushered in,” said the minister.

Ghani refuted the impression that projects like Abbottabad Bypass, widening of Murree Road and inauguration of Rescue 1122 in Abbottabad have been shelved. He insisted all projects are in the pipeline and work will begin shortly, adding the government has approved mega development schemes for Haripur and Mansehra.

Speaking about local government elections, Ghani said the PTI government was ready to hold polls but the Election Commission of Pakistan was the one creating hurdles and delaying them.
