QUETTA:

Militants linked to Taliban have released four more persons who were among the nine men kidnaped earlier in the month from Killa Saifulla and Zhob districts on the DI Khan-Quetta Highway.

“The kidnappers have released four people near Zarmilna area of South Waziristan border,” DC Zhob, Nazir Mohammed Khethran, told The Express Tribune. “They are in the custody of local administration,” he said.

He said two people are still in the captivity of the militants. According to officials in Zhob, the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the kidnappings.

The militants had also killed Liaquat Ali Khan of Talagang area in Punjab, an official of Pakistan Air Force who was among the kidnapped people, and dumped his body in Zhob. On January 4, the militants had intercepted a passenger bus coming from Islamabad and forced off five people at gunpoint. After a few hours militants kidnapped four people from a car coming to Zhob from Quetta. All the nine remained in captivity of militants for over a month.
