Imambargah blast: Death toll rises to six

Another injured of the Chittian Hattian  imambargah blast died at the district headquarters hospital (DHQ) on Sunday, taking the death toll to six.


The deceased, identified as Numan Siddiqui, was declared dead by the doctors at around 1pm. He was 25.


DHQ Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Nasir Mehmood said Siddiqui suffered serious injuries to his head, chest and abdomen. He had been in a critical condition. “We had to operate on his abdomen for bleeding. He could not survive due to multiple injuries,” said Mehmood.


The superintendent said most of the injured suffered minor injuries and hence had been discharged. The rest were stable. Funeral prayers for the deceased were offered in Chittian Hattian on Sunday evening. Siddiqui was a Sunni resident of the neighbourhood. He was on his bike passing by the imambargah when the bomb went off. His father, Asim Siddique, is a local prayer leader. ASP and SHO of the area also attended the funeral rites.
