Salim Raza Kakar was elected president and Salim Jan Khossa the general secretary of the Dera Ghazi Khan District Bar Association on Saturday.


As many as 637 members of the District Bar Association exercised their right to vote in the polling. Three votes were rejected.

Fayyaz Ahmad Bukhari, the election commissioner for the polls, announced the results. Kakar got 267 votes, his rival Muhammad Iqbal Saqib 260 and Afzal Arian 100. Khosa got 383 votes and his rival 247 votes.

Adnan Sadiq Khosa won the vice president’s seat with 450 votes and the losing candidate, Rana Saifullah, got 170 votes.

Irfan Karim Khosa was elected joint secretary unopposed.

Nasrullah won the library secretary seat with 379 votes. His rival Arif Abro got 215 votes. Shazia Abid was elected as the president of the Jampur bar.

After the announcement of the results, dozens of lawyers joined a rally led by Punjab Bar Council member Sardar Arif Gurmani, Naseem Khan Khosa and Azhar Tirmizi.They distributed sweets and danced on the beat of drums in celebration.
