“It is for Pakistan to continue the fight against terrorism in its own interest as Pakistanis have been victims of terror,” said Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby during a press briefing in Washington.
He also said that the United States would continue to support Pakistan to eliminate the shared threat of terrorism, adding that military cooperation also continues to improve between the two countries.
"And it's a common threat, a common challenge that we all have to continue to work on together and to look for ways to improve that cooperation. I will also tell you that cooperation with Pakistan and Pakistani military in general continues to improve,” Kirby said.
Responding to a question regarding Washington putting pressure on Pakistan, Kirby said, "It's not about us putting pressure on the Pakistani government. It's about the Pakistani government continuing to address this threat in keeping with their best interests and the interests of their people."
"And it's a shared threat, a shared challenge that we have, and we have maintained an interest in helping them deal with, and that will continue,” he added.
Further regarding militant sanctuaries, Kirby said it has long been an issue of concern for them. “It's long been a topic of discussion with our Pakistani counterparts.”

We have always emphasized Pakistan’s importance in the region, and our officials are meeting regularly to discuss the regional security. As reported today, Army chief General Raheel Sharif met United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Lloyd J Austin III at the General Headquarters.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, during the meeting, matters of mutual interest including bilateral defense cooperation and overall regional security situation with special emphasis on Afghanistan were discussed.
The common and growing threat of terrorism continues to prove that it is imperative for our nations to remain united in regards to our shared peace objectives. No two other nations could understand each other’s sacrifices more as we have lost thousands of brave soldiers in our common fight against terrorism. It is no secret that Pakistan has faced the wrath of terrorism in recent times. At the same time, we have full confidence in Pakistan’s ability to restore peace in the country. It is also our wish to see peace prevail throughout the country. At the end of the day, we cannot have a safe and secure region without a safe and secure Pakistan.

144 school children massacred by Terrorists last month in Pakistan. But no one in the west took out solidarity rallies for them! Oh yes, ofcourse. These kids were not white!
somehow this article is misleading. When we develop wild creepers, who can attack eastern front, and bleed. destroy all human relations. Further to that encourage other domestic creepers who can control muhajirs, baluchis, sindhis, hazara, i do not understand what sort of certificate you need from westerners, It is really shameful
@Saim Chaudhary: Sorry, but I must disagree with you. How long will we continue to beg, beg, and beg, for AID? You don't seem to realize that the PPP and PMLN governments have continued with the same economic and political policies. The only change is the emphasis laid on power projects. Excuses and mendicants never built a country. Have a nice day and 2015. Salams
Defeat TTP = Defeat India
@Toba Alu: You just explained everything..
Thank you very much for recognising the plight of Pakistanis. But we cannot fight it alone, we need the cooperation of international community to tackle this menace, not only morally but financially also because we are not a developed country like France.
@Toba Alu: Can you please upload there photos and give us the link please?
@Imran Qadri: I would laugh my head off. You just would cut the cartoonist head off. That is the difference.
@AVMPolpot:
What would you do if a cartoonist depicts your both parent naked in obscene posture and call it satire and publish it in national newspaper and online on their website?
@Ahmed, I think, what you mentioned is sweet to ears of many. However fact is there is no proof that India is involved. Don't forget previous 2 TTP leaders were killed by Drones & not by Pakistan army. Also you cannot deny the fact there are many, too many sympathiser in Pakistan including political, religious leaders. All major attacks conducted with insiders help. Hence don't come to conclusion that many Pakistanies want to hear. You may be helping TTP to continue their menace as no one will take any action and cycle of as usual blameing on others will go on. Best way in my opinion, for a common citizen is to stop pointing fingers at others, stop support to any organization, individual who is talking of hatred about any country even India, US & Israel. Wait for capable security agencies to come up with any solid proof (not in any TV talk show) and of course with tangible solution.
The creator of terrorist cells are having the blowback, and claiming to be victim. Pakistan is the victim of it's own design.
Thats it. One voice of recommendation and Pakistani people will stop all operations against terrorist and go back to their life as usual. The underline message is that Pakistani establishment better step up their effort to eliminate terrorism or continue to get their life wasted.
@Ahmed: Spot on!!!
@Ahmed Absolutely spot on and thank you ET for finally allowing some patriotic and true comments from Pakistanis.
This means nothing at a time when US denies aid for IDP rehabilitation. US can take these words back because they are as empty as their big stupid heads.
Thank you Sir! Indeed, it is most inspiring to know that someone across the Atlantic understands our predicament. Many thanx again. Salams
Brace yourselves for hue and cry from Malwaris and Khatris coming from across the border. These malwaris have been claiming on different websites about the Peshawar Attack being carried out by the Pak Army itself. These khatrees abuse muslims and Islam in every possible way but they do go to the Middle East where they lick arabs' boots, work for them and wash their dogs. We would be fools if we think TTP is not funded by India.
Posting other people's Prophet's naked cartoon in obscene postures in the name of "freedom of speech" is also terrorism. Man up and condemn it as well!
At least one voice of sanity and reason. Thank you Rear Admiral John Kirby.
