Firing started at 9pm on Monday night and no injuries or deaths were reported thus far.
Mortar shells were also used during the ceasefire violation.
Chenab Rangers have reportedly responded to the firing effectively.
On January 6, four Pakistani civilians were killed in ‘unprovoked firing and heavy shelling’ by BSF in the Zafarwal and Shakargarh sectors along the Sialkot Working Boundary.
All issues with India can be resolved through dialogue: Aziz
Prime Minister's Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz urged on Tuesday that all issues between the two neighbouring countries should be resolved through dialogue.
According to Radio Pakistan, the prime minister’s senior aide, while speaking to a private TV channel, said it was India that suspended foreign secretary-level talks without any reason in August.
“It was expected that after elections in occupied Kashmir, there would be improvement in Pakistan-India ties, but it did not happen; rather, India increased working boundary violations, which is regrettable,” Aziz lamented.
Further, he said India should have welcomed the military offensive launched against militants in North Waziristan and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
Tensions between the neighbouring countries escalated last week when two Pakistani paramilitary soldiers were killed during exchanges of heavy fire.
Recent exchanges of fire across the the Line of Control have killed more than two dozen civilians and forced thousands to flee their homes on both sides.

I was just looking at the pakistani news paper they say the same thing indian papers say except that pakistan is firing instead of india. The news is just trying to provoke us against each other so they get more news therefore they sell more.
@xenia:
Be assured that I will not wait for India being targeted by cross-border firing by 75% of neighbors as Pakistan has. The day India over a three month time frame gets targeted by cross border firing from 50% of her neighbors, you can be assured that I will be doing some deep soul searching and urging my fellow Indian’s to do the same. For good order, let me say by neighbors of India I mean all the 6 countries you have named as neighbors plus Myanmar which does share a land border and the Maldives since you have chosen to name the island territory of Sri Lanka as a neighbor, making a grand total of 8 neighbors.
@AD: Hi AD, can you name few good neighbors of India, where it has outstanding relations? Nepal is only friendly with you cause it cannot fight you. Understand.Please.
@Sri Varahadev:
Need of the hour is deep soul searching by India as to why three of her four neighbors, Nepal, Pakistan and China, from time to time have to resort to cross border firing that targets India. India had been engaged in wars with the neighbors Pakistan and China
@AD: Yes, you got our point. Neighbors under your influence don't/can never have good relation with us. In roots of all of our sour relations, you are the salty water.. keep an eye on your govt's inside jobs.. We want peace because we can't afford war. but if there is war, we will make sure you don't afford it..
@xenia: Hi Xenia, can you name few good neighbors of Pakistan,where it has Outstanding relations. Iran,India,Afghanistan.China is only friendly with you cause it want to contain India.Understand.Please.
One thing on which the newspapers on both the sides agree! That the other side is resorting to unprovoked firing. Take an Indian Newspaper and exchange the words India and Pakistan. You get the Pakistan Newspaper. It is as if the Editorial teams have a common pact. May be, by showing nationalism up their sleeves in this manner, they are actually laughing at it. And us, gullible readers argue and fret and fume and abuse each others.
@Sri Varahadev: Need of the hour is deep soul searching why India has worst relations with its neighbour Pakistan, China, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh ( I am omitting Nepal and Bhutan because they can't Withstand Indian Aggression)? ??? Because Indian's Follow Chanakya Never have good relation with your Neighbour, Always have good relation with the Neighbours of of your Neighbour.
We have complete lesson before and in "Ghazwa-e-Badr". It is necessary to damage Indian trade activities and then accordingly response by armed forces.
Need of the hour is deep soul searching by Pakistan as to why three of her four neighbors, Iran, Afghanistan and India, from time to time have to resort to cross border firing that targets Pakistan. Need of the hour is also deep soul searching by Pakistan as to why these same three neighbors do not feel the need to indulge in similar cross border firing that targets their other neighbors like Turkmenistan and Armenia in Iran’s case, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan in Afghanistan’s sake or Nepal and Myanmar in India’s case. Pakistan’s civil polity must force her Punjabi Military dominated Deep State to understand that ceasing to provoke three neighbors into resorting to cross border firing that targets Pakistan will greatly benefit the people of Pakistan even if only by having one less problem to deal with in a nation beset with a host of pressing problems.
i remember one of their ministers said,they have a language,other than that ,they don't understand anything" ..yup! you deserve this language and that's why we choose it for you
In Indian side 4000 people have left their home due to pak rangers firing.
Pakistani Forces must fully respond to them.
To protest Indian "jahariyat", we will go and watch PK.....
O my mother please leave your home they will not care even if you are aged and nothing to do with both sides shelling..
