Imagined Community: Art exhibition to raise funds for schools

LAHORE: An art exhibition will open at Lahore Heritage Museum Gallery at Tollington Market on Wednesday to raise funds for schools for underprivileged children in Swat and Uch Sharif. Curator Zara Sajid said the works showcased would show the evolution of art through ages. She said they aimed to initiate social and cultural dialogue through art. Work by Tapu Javeri, Ali Azmat, Scheherzade Junejo, Dua Abbas, Summaiya Jilani, Zehra Javeri, Ramazan Jafri, Shah Abdullah, Rabia Ajaz and Sahyr Syed would be exhibited. “All artists participating in the exhibition have won awards for their work,” Sajid said. She said the exhibition would feature various forms of art – from contemporary, miniature art to photo journalism. The exhibition will be inaugurated by artist Quddus Mirza on at 5pm. The show will open for public the following day from 9am to 4pm. A percentage of proceeds would be donated to Rising Stars Foundation for their schools.
