Netherlands lost 4-2 in the quarter-final and Pakistan will now have to wait to find out who they will face in the semi-final round as there are three other quarter-finals still to be played: Argentina vs Australia, Germany vs England and India vs Belgium.
After the match, the captain Muhammad Imran was awarded the Man of the Match award.
"I believe in my team and my coaches. The boys played really well," the captain said.
"Holland is a good side, but today we did a great job," he said. "I am thankful to the Indian crowds for supporting the Pakistan hockey team," Imran said.
The team's coach, Sheikh Shahnaz, said "I promised my nation that we would be in the top four."
"I thank the people of Pakistan for praying for me and my team," the coach said.

The pool matches are played to decide who plays whom in the QFs. Pakistan came last in Pool A and so played the Netherlands who were the Winners of Pool B.

so why have they been playing the group matches for last one week when every team was also supposed to reach the QF?
It will be interesting to know that how have the reached the QF after losing all group matches, anyhow a pleasant surprise from the hockey team after a long time, congratulations ;)

Dont read too much into this victory. They lost all the three games in the pool matches with heavy margins and reached QFs only due to format of the tournament which allowed all teams to play Quarter Finals.

This new format is cruel. I remember few years back when Pakistan team was playing in world cup qualifiers, they won all three pool matches but then lost to Korea in quarterfinals and crashed out of world cup qualifying. This new format is a harsh one for teams who win everything in pool matches.
Lets see how long this appreciation lasts ?! :-)
