Woman carrying explosives into Islamabad arrested

Islamabad police seized 130 kilograms of explosive material at IJ Principal Road, vehicle coming from Peshawar.

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police seized 130 kilograms of explosive material at IJ Principal Road on Sunday night.

Express 24/7 correspondernt Sohail Chaudhry reported that the explosives were being carried into Islamabad from Peshawar on a Toyota HiAce vehicle bearing the number plate C-1784.

Islamabad police have arrested a woman named Amtri Bibi, who was allegedly carrying the explosives into the capital. She has been shifted to the women's police station for questioning.

A case has also been registered in Islamabad under section 5/6 Explosives Act.

Security in the capital has been increased after a terrorist attack in Pakpattan at the Baba Farid shrine in October this year.

Nughma Siddiq | 13 years ago | Reply It is very hard to believe that this frail, simple looking woman could be capable of smuggling explosives. I think the media should get to the bottom of this and if required protect the woman, who could be victimized in this case.
