No protection for children

Letter November 22, 2010
Successive governments have failed to ensure children their rights in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to your report of November 20 titled “Pakistan lags severely in child protection”. Successive governments have failed to ensure children their rights in Pakistan. It has been 20 years since Pakistan became a party to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) but to date there has been minimal progress at the legislation, budgetary allocation and training level.

Pakistan still needs to go a long way to ensure children their rights as enshrined in the CRC. Children living in Fata are the worst hit.
