Rashid, while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday, said the airplane used by Imran for his ongoing political campaign across the country belongs to JWD Sugar Mills.
“JDW is a public limited company and the PTI secretary general Jahangir Tareen only has 29.76% shares in the company,” he said. "The other 70.24% shares are owned by other financial institutions and shareholders.”
He added that using the aircraft for political motives is an illegal act as per company laws.
“Company laws say any public company limited company cannot give donations to a political party and cannot contribute in monetary terms.”
Rashid further said the airplane was bought for company interests but was being used for politics.
“I haven’t heard if the majority of shareholders decided to use their airplane for PTI’s political campaign,” he said. “[JWD Sugar Mills] is supposed to crush sugar, not the economy of Pakistan.”
The information minister said such misuse of funds was being carried out by a person who gives lectures the public on integrity and uprightness on a daily basis.
Rashid further said that the PTI chairman paid Rs0.1 million in income tax last year, asking him to justify his ‘lavish’ lifestyle and traveling expenses in his upcoming speech in Gujranwala.
“What other sources of income do you have?” he asked the PTI chief. “You’re traveling on stolen money.”
Tareen rejects Rashid’s claims
Rejecting the information minister’s claims, Tareen, while talking to Express News, accused Rashid of blatantly lying.
“Whenever Imran Khan has traveled in the plane, I have paid all the expenses myself,” he said. “I have all the documents since the day he has started using the aircraft.”
Tareen added that as long as he was paying for Imran's travel expenses, it should not be an issue to anyone as it was a matter between him and his party chief.
When asked that why the PTI chairman did not use commercial flights meant for the public, the secretary general said, “We wanted to reach Larkana at the time of Imran’s speech in the rally, and then he had to go back to attend the Islamabad sit-in. There were no flights then; would PIA run flights as per Imran’s wish?”

At this stage, Imran Khan is only fooling the utter and total fools. Most people who were fooled by his pretty face and big promises and voted for him in 2013 have by now realized their mistake. Even I was fooled into contributing to his hospital – until I had the chance to meet him in person and realized he was nothing but a stupid, vain, power-hungry individual. His propaganda on behalf of the taliban after that confirmed this impression. Thank God the rest of Pakistan has come together in denying Imran Khan and the molvi Qadri their delusions of become the unelected rulers of Pakistan.
I do not understand arguing about the issue. If the majority shareholders of JWD sugar mills have no objection, why are we wasting our time & energy on such stupid issue. In fact this issue should not have become an issue at all. We have so many important issues which gets blurred due to our un-necessary involvement in other irrelevant issues.
JKT has shares in one sugar mill and fly own plane from own funds! IK use his jet and pay!
Sharifs has several Sugar mills and industries - guess what they only use Govt owned jets and helicopters for personal use! Who use public funds, you decide!

Jehangir Tareen says he pays for all travel expenses of Imran Khan and it a matter between him and his party chief. Imran in past had said that his bullet proof SUV worth more then Rs500 million is also not owned by him but given to him by a wealthy friend. Imran is a politician and in west politicians and political parties are bound to declare such donations and gifts given to them by wealthy individuals and lobbies.
Tareen is heavily investing on Imran Khan obviously he must must be getting something in return in KPK province and will be hoping to get even more if god fobid some day Imran became PM through some unconstitutional shortcut,coz legally and through proper channel it seems his chances of coming to power are real slim.
A foolish discussion. A fool gives foolish statement. Why not real representatives through re counting votes? Issues will be solved. A VERY SIMPLE SOLUTION.
If majority shares are held by financial institutions and ordinary shareholders and JT does not own the plane, how can he pay for it and use like private property for IK? Why can't IK charter another plane from one of the domestic airlines? Which other party leader travels in private jets for jalsas? Basically, IK is like a royal prince and needs to travel in jet set style. No rules apply to PTI and its party leadership. They can accuse anyone of being corrupt, but no one can dare to even point a finger at them.
He seems to have a point. Are assets of the JWD Sugar Mills being used in according with company laws and SEC policies? He's right when he says the sugar mills should focus on crushing sugar, and not the nation's economy.
I heard the argument he made on TV....and I really felt sorry for him....he was pathetic.

For someone appointed as information minister, mr Rashid follows a long line illustrious duds, who basically made the government a laughing stock. For his benefit, the term "public money" refers to government money raised through taxation. A public company despite the name is a technically a private company owned by a large number of individual and institutional shareholders but has certain reporting obligations and regulations to follow. Key difference is between a pubicly held company and a public enterprise, that Mr. Rashid in his haste denigrate PTI has overloooked, resulting in him appearing a buffoon.

Did you not know that Imran was highly paid cricketer. His earnings of Rs. 5000 per test match and Rs. 3000 one day fee was enough to live in 300 Kannal farm house and fly in jets. It's a lie that he is using money of his business friends who have gambled to recover ten times more if he became our Prime Minister. Funding is being provided by KPK government. Funds of KPK are being wasted on politics. Jews are also funding Imran's compaign.
