Distorting reality

One would expect some sort of explanation from the government on such a blunt, rather shameless denial of facts

JUBAIL: “Why should we target those who are not against us? An enemy of America is not necessarily our enemy as well.” I was astonished to see the calmness on Sartaj Aziz’s face, who is the adviser to the prime minister on national security and foreign affairs, as he defended Pakistan’s position during a televised interview with a foreign TV network, on November 17. I do not know for how long Pakistan will continue to live in this kind of denial. Al Qaeda has no roots in Pakistan, Osama bin Laden is not hiding in Pakistan, we do not differentiate between the good and the bad Taliban, the Punjabi Taliban do not exist, there are no terrorist sanctuaries in North Waziristan, the Haqqani network is an Afghan tribe, why should they be in Pakistan. Time has proven that we were unable to convince the world on all these issues and were shown the mirror again and again, but at the cost of widespread destruction and bloodshed, not only inside Pakistan but in neighbouring countries as well.

One would expect some sort of explanation from the government on such a blunt, rather shameless denial of facts from its very seasoned adviser.
