We are only human

I have noticed that it is all about time management when it comes to raising children

ISLAMABAD: This is apropos the article by Juggun Kazim, “We are only humans” published on November 19. I would like to share my own experience of raising children these days. Most of the points raised by Ms Kazim are true and are certainly attributed to this all-too-mechanical life that we are living today. However, I have noticed that it is all about time management when it comes to raising children. It is no doubt difficult to break the monotonous routine of the working week, yet you have weekends to unwind, to relax, to do outdoor activities, to go to movies, to dine out, to have fun with kids, or to just lie down and do nothing. Such activities boost our hormones and energise our spirits to spend ample quality time with our children.

On the subject of children’s school bags, I have also complained to school authorities several times, and argued that children should be made to carry books according to the timetable. But the school management and more so, the teachers, shuffle the timetables according to their convenience, to catch up with syllabi and revisions, and to schedule surprise tests. How irresponsible! Well, this is just how our private education system is working nowadays. Sadly, school education is another area which the government has failed to regulate properly.
