KHYBER AGENCY/ PESHAWAR: Seventeen militants were killed at the hands of security forces when the two clashed in the Spin Qamar area of Khyber Agency,  ISPR reported on Saturday.

Between 50 to 60 militants attempted an attack on the security forces check post,  which was valiantly repulsed Friday night.

The militants fled the scene and left behind the bodies of the 17 terrorists.

"We have captured 17 bodies of Lashkar-e-Islam and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants after killing them in overnight action in Khyber tribal district," a senior security official told AFP.

"Our forces had responded to a joint attack by these two militant outfits. We are now handing over these dead bodies to the local administration for identification."

Another official on the ground in Bara confirmed the killings.

The bodies have been shifted to Levies Centre Shah Kas for identification, while sources identify them to be suspected militants.
