FWO vehicle partially damaged in explosion in Panjgur

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet but Baloch militants are thought to be involved

QUETTA: A Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) vehicle was partially damaged in an IED blast on Friday in Balochistan’s Panjgur district.

According to a Panjgur Levies official, unidentified militants planted and detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on a road near the Rakshan River.

Security forces were escorting the vehicle when it came under attack. The driver sustained minor injuries and was discharged after receiving first aid, according to sources.

Security forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

Baloch militants are suspected to be responsible for the attack. However, no group has claimed the responsibility.

The FWO is engaged in the construction of several roads and highways in the Makran division which is witnessing a deteriorating law and order situation.
