“The improvised explosive device (IED) was planted inside the trashcan beside the Link road. It was detonated by remotely after FC vehicles passed by the area,” Imran Qureshi, SP Saryab Police, told The Express Tribune.
“No loss of life was reported in the blast,” he added.
Security forces, police and rescue workers rushed to the spot soon after the explosion and cordoned off the area.
“No loss of life was reported. The blast was heard within two kilometers of radius,” SHO Shalkot police Zahoor Shah said.
According to an FC spokesperson, two suspects were arrested from the crime scene.
“They are being questioned,” he said.
Windowpanes of some houses were shuttered due to the impact of the blast.
Paramilitary troops and police are often targeted by militants in Hazarganji and Saryab areas of Quetta while they patrol to maintain law and order. Several security personnel were injured a week ago on Qambrani road after they were attacked with roadside IED.
