SHABQADAR:

Maulana Samiul Haq, leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S), condemned the assassination attempt on Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Quetta on Thursday.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman escaped an attempt on his life when a bomb went off near his rally in Quetta. Initial reports claimed one person died and 22 others were injured in  the attack.

While addressing a religious ceremony, Haq said the attack is an attempt to foster sectarian violence in the country and demanded the government track down its perpetrators.

Haq also took a jibe at the Islamabad sit-ins and said the protestors were being manipulated by foreign elements.

Haq made the claim that the Taliban are not present in North Waziristan and the military operation is being conducted to target the Haqqani network which is fighting the US in Afghanistan.
